Thanks for the newsletter Tony. I look forward to getting more great dieting tips. I've fallen off the wagon lately and I'm trying to pull myself back on. The lure of the Easter basket keeps calling me and I need to put down the chocolate :)

Hi Debbie,
Thank you, not only for checking out my site, but also for the wonderful compliment. I have worked very hard to develop a system that is not only easy to follow and fun but also educational as well. I guess the hardest part of a good thing is getting the word out. Newsletters will soon be coming out.

Hi Isabelle,
Thank you for signing up for my news letters, I think you will find them not only informative but also educational. You can never have to much knowledge, it is truly the power of success. I love to hear when people refer to their weight loss as a journey because that’s exactly what it is, a journey that ultimately turns into a lifestyle, one step at a time, one day at a time and one mistake and accomplishment at a time. It will be a worth while journey that will truly change nearly very facet of your life, the rewards are well worth the effort, I know first hand from some of the people I have helped find their own success. Helping people find their way is something I still get excited about every single day. Take care Isabelle

Hi Tony,

Barbara here, moderator of the Mental Health Communities. I have lost 16 pounds now, and I did it in holistic and pharmaceutical ways.

Holistic:
Stress Bath Recipe:
Principle: Cook the water like you would make soup.
1. hot water
2. bubble bath
3. Epsom salts
4. moisturizing bath beads
5. oils that are labeled Stress and Tension, Aches and Pains, Cold and Sinus

Mix.

Get in that, put your fingers in your ears because you're going to do a hair wash, and soak.

You will feel the stress leaving your body. It's like a ghost. It just leaves.

6. shampoo
7. conditioner
8. sugar scrub to exfoliate
9. moisturizer on skin you exfoliated
10. make sure all the soap is out of your hair
11. two towels: one for hair, one for body, preferrably a bath sheet.
12. Comb out your hair
13. Lie down and sleep for 2 hours.

You will not need potato salad after that.

For exercise, I garden, which is labor to some, but I rake, weed, spray my roses, this, that, the other thing. You're dead once you've done 4 hours. ;-P But it's exercise, and it's free.

Color
Color affects mood amazingly. I have these red amaryllises, I have never seen such a red. Have color in your life that feeds your soul.

Food:
Lots of those mixed small lettuces and spinach leaves, with fresh tomatoes. Have an avocado if you like. Have an ice cream cone if you like. Eat steak and a baked potato with butter and sour cream at a restaurant if you like. You are just less hungry the next day, so you eat some cereal, celery and cottage cheese, etc. Eat when you are hungry because you have another way to relieve the stress.

Clothes
Wear something beautiful every day, including jewelry. It doesn't have to be expensive. Just ironed. Wake up. What color am I in the mood for? Take care of your clothes. Have your favorite top in 6 colors, all washed and ironed, so you open your drawer and say, am I in a light blue mood? a yellow mood? No beige. Today is beige.

Pharmaceuticals.
I suffer from moderate depression. I take 100 mg zoloft, and 2 mgs of Klonopin before bed, as well as Altace for blood pressure, and minocycline for acne. At my age, bleh.

The controling of blood pressure, depression, anxiety, with these holistic treatments is making me lose weight, and I'm eating anything I'm in the mood for, but what you become in the mood for changes. That's the whole trick about diets. It's not a diet anymore because you don't want the potato salad anymore.

Another principle: make all the things you do mood choices to make your mood happy. What am I in the mood to eat? What am in the mood to wear? So you become like a princess picking things. "I'll have that," etc.

I lost 16 pounds, and I haven't felt any pain at all. I'm still losing (30 to go, ick, but still.) My 50th birthday is Dec 2. And to live my 50s decade, thin and beautiful, well, that will be some present to myself, and boy do I deserve it.

It is very hard to do the baths with the pets. Harry, my parrot, has to be out of his cage and on the sink taking a bath with me, then on the edge of my bed. Lucy, my cat has to be in her sleeping spot, Grace, my other cat has to be complaining about something. We have a new kitten, she has to be in a pet bed on my bed. James always wants something. When you're Mama, it's hard, but boy the benefits of weight loss on brain function are hard to beat.

I play this game because my friend is community director. It's called www.moshimonsters.com, and you do puzzles to beneficially affect the artificial intelligence monster. It's designed for 7 - 12 year olds, BUT, they have puzzles like which letter of the alphabet is not there, and all the letters are backwards. What time is it, and the clock is backwards. How many squares are there. I have found that losing weight and exercising makes me better at these IQ puzzles!

I was looking on the internet and found this: in the journal neuroscience, a compound that triggers significant slimming in mice and humans is caused by the growth of new neurons in the brain's appetite-control center.

Maybe weight loss and exercise make you grow new brain cells at any age. :-)
