Hi Kira
Have you ever thought about or tried psychotherapy, it would be bad if your doctor did not even suggest it to you. You can try yoga, meditation and exercise. These are simply things that you can do everyday which will help.
Honestly, having this forum is a big blessing. It helps to know we are not alone. As much as we can explain to family and friends what Dystonia is, unles you have it, you can grasp all the aspects. My husband can barely stand it when he gets the sniffles, he can try to 'feel it with me' but he can't begin to grasp it. Hang out here and hope you find some smiles to get you thru another day.Myself, I have felt like I have been on a rollar coaster ride emotionally these past two weeks. I didn't join my family for Easter and did my best to stay away from everyone. My attitude stunk. I needed and still need to sort thru what this means to my life, how to live with it and look at a differnt direction then I planned for me.
Kira, are you currently seeing a physician for your GAD regularly? If not, that's the first step, really. The second step is being open and totally honest with that physician about your anxiety. You have to speak up and let them know what's going on. There are heaps of "natural" things that you can do to help your daily anxiety, but if you're currently on medication and still dealing with the anxiety overtaking you, it might be wise to call your doctor and speak with them. Let me know and we'll get a discussion going!
You can buy ENTERIC coated tablets of 5htp to take from Natures Way..
They make a capsule but you do not want that...it is not enteric coated...
you want the enteric coated tablets..50 mg ones.
You take a 50 mg at breakfast with a little food, then a 5o mg at lunch with food
and in two weeks start at about 4 pm with another 50 mg ...
Total of 150 mg a day, spread out in 3 doses...
It takes a little time to work, and you might feel a little anxious for the first 2 weeks, but that leaves...
I promise it did for me..
You will sleep better and it helps the depression...
Do not take the 5htp if you are on any form of prescription antideppresant..
5htp has the same thing..amino acid in it that you find in turkey...you eat..
Creates calmer mood and enhances sleep...

You are right. I find L Tryptophan, the ingredient I believe you are talking about, in 5htp is excellent for anxiety or sleep-less nights. I believe a combo of that with B Complex, Zinc, manganese and Omega 3 is wonderful for anxiety, depression and some of the more severe Mental Disorders. However I am not a Nutritionist or Physician so I cannot prescribe any combo. As a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Hypnotherapist, Energy Psy Therapist I rarely mention it. I have been researching Orthomolecular Medicine and notice how this combo soothes those in need. Lorraine Blum
