How can I lose weight safely? I wanted to try slimming pills but everyone told me that it is not the safest way to lose weight.

STAY AWAY FROM SLIMMING PILLS! they are so incredibly dangerous and really won't help you in the long run anyway if you want not only lose weight, but also KEEP the weight off.

I'm not a nutritionist or dietician, but I have done a great deal of research on health / nutrition / fitness related topics and have a friend getting her masters to be a dietician and work in an eating disorder treatment facility. Needless to say, I think my advice is fairly legit.

The most important thing to consider when trying to lose weight is adjustments in your lifestyle. Are you active? If so, what do you do? Your body sheds pounds quickest when you have variety in your exercise regime - switching off between running, biking, elliptical machine, some sort of recreational sport, etc - so that you don't build muscle memory of the movement.

Additionally, as much as I hate lifting weights (too ADD for that hahah), it is extremely important. Weight lifting builds bone density (necessary in preventing osteoporosis) and builds muscle mass. Though the action of lifting weights does not necessarily burn as many calories as doing cardio, having a greater muscle mass increases the rate at which you burn calories throughout the day.

In terms of food, realize that anything is ok if eaten IN MODERATION. If you're craving chocolate cake, eat chocolate cake. Denying yourself certain foods is just going to make the craving stronger and ultimately lead to a binge, so in order to avoid this, allow yourself a small piece of cake and then move on.

On the opposite side of the spectrum, try to incorporate more fruits and vegetables into your diet, as they have high nutritional content per calorie and are tasty. My advice is to have 3 meals and 3 snacks per day so that you never feel starved (which leads to overeating) and have a constant intake of energy throughout the day. Each meal should be balanced in the send that it contains at least 1-2 of each food group (salads with a meat and beans, light dressing and pita bread / flax crackers / some whole grain, followed by a piece of fruit for dessert, are always great bc they easily mix all food groups and can be adjusted for variety and taste preferences).

Hope this helps!

What kind of exercise does everyone do that does not trigger spasms? I love to dance but both feet get so knotted up, it's ridiculous. I find that lifting weights triggers tremendous spasms in my arms so I am afraid of that.
I really want to get this weight off, but don't know how to go about it.
Any suggestions??

Thanks
Donna

No, I have not found a new neurologist yet. Still looking.
