Who is getting a flu shot

We've got H1N1 flu vaccine starting to arrive in my state this week and next. I'm curious as to how many people are getting a flu shot this year. I think I'll pass, just to see if my immune system is tuned and ready like I think it is.

Anyone else going to get the shot?

Permalink Reply by JHooper on December 9, 2009 at 7:54pm: I wasn't going to go out and get an H1N1 shot initially, but about a month ago when I started to get that old familiar feeling (aches, pains, sneezing, chills etc) I figured it might be in my best interests to get a shot. After some waiting and other delays I finally got my H1N1 shot. It actually made me feel worse at the beginning, but after about 3 or 4 days I felt much better, not quite 100% again but enough to know I was on the up and up finally. That was a few weeks ago and I'm fine now :)

Although I have chronic diseases I decided to get the regular flu shot + skip the H1 N1. My personal choice only. Because there is an adjuvant added to make your immune system work with the little amount of H1 N1 vaccine in there, I have a weird immune system which goes into over drive when something new, which the body does not recognise, is introduced to it. And has I have a Neurological disorder, which the cause is not yet fully understood. I did not want any more complications. This is a personal choice and I think it is up to the individual to decided.
My dentist, who's wive has lupus did ask if I was getting the shot and I told him no for the reasons stated above and he told me his wive had decided against it to.
I am hoping my immune system is strong enough and I was born 1st Jan 60, so have been told that anyone born before 57 has anti bodies to Spanish flu so should be OK.
Its a personal choice and I would not advice anyone not to have it. Just to be informed first.; ▶ Reply to This
