This is a bit heavy and weird, but here it goes.

Wow, Waterlily. That is so eloquent and convincing. As much as I love NPR, the News Hour, NY Times online, etc., I'm sure I could benefit from your suggestions. I'm sure one of the hurdles is simply…

Agree, Alicia. I don't even watch local TV news anymore. It's ridiculous. All the airtime is given to criminal acts and losers who do bad, brainless things. If anyone went by what's on the news, you'…

I just get concerned about the effect of constant disagreement and arguing that seems to make up the news shows lately. I used to enjoy it. Thought it was healthy debate. My wife and kids couldn't st…

I'm a news junkie. I can hardly go anywhere without a radio to listen to NPR or a laptop so I can read online newspapers, gossip sites, Huffington Post, whatever I can find. My question: Does the co…

I think this is an excellent question, ImmuneDude! I've actually shared this thread over in our Health Activists for Public Policy Group as I think we may have a few news junkies there as well. I'd love to have anyone here share their thoughts on t…

Yes, absolutely! I've heard of this before - Information Overload. You should check out this piece on Huffington Post about Information Overload. Americans consume 100,000 words or about 34 gigabytes of information a day! While it indicates only 35%…

Hi and yep too much news really does have an impact on peoples health and physical well being. I have observed this with people who frequent a small cafe I use. Although the more rational a person the less effect, I find. I don't want to have to a…

You're right in my wheelhouse. I'm taking D3 and fish oil as well. Just got my refill of chromium yesterday (200 mcg/day). Plus lutein, EpiCor, and red wine when I can get it. That counts, doesn't it?

Thanks Linda. Sound reasoning, in my book.

Oops thats supposed to be 1000 mg vit D.

I am taking 1500mg calcium + 100 vit D. Nuero prescribed these for me as I have Movement disorder. I think the fish oils a good thing too, my mother swears by it. But eating lots of oily fish is best, if you can stand it. lol

More about me (my health interests and reasons for joining WEGO Health)
I want to connect with people who are interested in total wellness, and how immune system function can contribute to many areas of health. I'm a big proponent of immune "balance," which runs counter to the conventional notion of immune "boosting."

Go, fight, win. Football can tell the story of immune cells.

Put up a post today about some new research showing how T-cells and NK cells behave, and why balance, not boost, is the way to go in taking care of yourself.

Impacts total health experience, not just cold, flu, etc. My football example in the post might be a little wacky, but I hope it paints the picture.

Fall chaos and immune health

I just published a post on my immune health blog about how wacky our house gets in the fall, never mind the holiday. That can really set up the perfect storm, especially with H1N1 lingering, for getting slammed by THE BUG. Research shows emotional stressors can pull your immune system in opposite directions--over-reacting and under-reacting--so that your whole system is cattywompus. (is that the right spelling?)

Anyway, read more heContinue

Hi ImmuneDude and welcome to WEGO Health.
I love your name, by the way :)

I'm glad that you joined the Asthma and Allergy community and I look forward to your sharing how increased immune function can help the folks in that community. Don't be afraid to jump right in and to start posting any ideas and suggestions that you have.

I noticed that you say that you aren't really sure where you fit in yet. Take a minute to take the Health Activist Quick Quiz. It will help you to narrow down what kind of Health Activist you are.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about WEGO Health or the site itself. I look forward to seeing you around the site.

Be Healthy,
Janeen
