Although more research definitely needs to be done, the hormone Melatonin is used only with extreme caution and only under special supervision by those with autoimmune problems. Its use is also strongly cautioned in those suffering depression and ...

I take a multi-vitamin, calcium-magnesiums-vitamin D supplement, at least 1000 mg of Vitamin C and as much water as I can possible take each day. I know I should do more on the vitamin side. Did you have to work up to the 1000 mg of fish oil?

Hey ImmuneDude - great list to begin! Also, thank you for calling attention to immune support vs boosts. :) The key here I think is being as healthy as you can, and this is really what our family is targeting. As a result of autoimmunity, I am st...

Getting better! Finally able to come back to the computer today. H1N1 was not fun, but luckily it wasn't bad enough at our house to put us down for too long. I'm still not 100% so I'm not going to push it today. Glad the links were what you were l...

More about me (my health interests and reasons for joining WEGO Health)
I want to connect with people who are interested in total wellness, and how immune system function can contribute to many areas of health. I'm a big proponent of immune "balance," which runs counter to the conventional notion of immune "boosting."

Go, fight, win. Football can tell the story of immune cells.

Put up a post today about some new research showing how T-cells and NK cells behave, and why balance, not boost, is the way to go in taking care of yourself.

Impacts total health experience, not just cold, flu, etc. My football example in the post might be a little wacky, but I hope it paints the picture.

That can really set up the perfect storm, especially with H1N1 lingering, for getting slammed by THE BUG. Research shows emotional stressors can pull your immune system in opposite directions--over-reacting and under-reacting--so that your whole system is cattywompus. (is that the right spelling?)

Hi ImmuneDude and welcome to WEGO Health.
I love your name, by the way :)

I'm glad that you joined the Asthma and Allergy community and I look forward to your sharing how increased immune function can help the folks in that community. Don't be afraid to jump right in and to start posting any ideas and suggestions that you have.

I noticed that you say that you aren't really sure where you fit in yet. Take a minute to take the Health Activist Quick Quiz. It will help you to narrow down what kind of Health Activist you are.

Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions about WEGO Health or the site itself. I look forward to seeing you around the site.

Be Healthy,
Janeen
