Allergy Bloggers: Share safety tips for keeping the holidays safe for those with food allergies

The holidays are upon is! And the holidays are full of food allergy pit falls. It seems that food is a part of every holiday celebration and even a part of the decorations themselves. If you have food allergies and celebrate during this season it is an issue for you. You can't ignore it. I've done two blog posts on the subject and you can find them here: Surviving the holidays with food allergies and… Continue

Parents of children with T-1 diabetes - Do you know how your behavior affects your child?

Back in October I wrote a post about Type 1 Diabetes from a child's perspective. As parents, we want to make everything better. We certainly don't set out to make it worse. But sometimes we do and we don't even realize that we are doing it. A few days ago Super Nanny visited a family with a child that has Type 1 diabetesContinue

Allergy Bloggers: Resources to share with the newly diagnosed

My son was diagnosed with his food allergies at 10 months of age. When the allergist told me that he was allergic to wheat, rye, barley, oat, eggs, dairy, peanuts and tree nuts my first thought was "What am I going to feed this child"? I was so lost and so scared and I had no idea what to do. No one else I knew had a food allergy child and I didn't know where to turn. Unfortunately, as wonderful as our allergist is, he is not very helpful in this area. He showed me pamphlets from… Continue

Health Bloggers: Do you ever worry about posts or pictures coming back to haunt you?

This particular article that I read today applied to Facebook, but it got me thinking about my blog. Do we really know who is reading it and what they are actually doing with the information that we are putting out there? In this article a Canadian woman had her long term sick leave for depression revoked because her insurance company found photos of her on Facebook that showed her "having… Continue

Traveling with diabetes: plan ahead for a safe holiday travel time

Yesterday I wrote a post about traveling safely with asthma during this holiday season. But asthma and allergies aren't the only concerns that people have during this season. What about type 1 diabetes? Traveling and the holidays don't need to be stressful and no ones health needs to suffer. With some careful planning everyone can have a happy, healthy holiday.

So what can you do to travel safely with type 1… Continue

Thanks for the comment! I'm sorry to say I haven't been keeping up with Wego as much as I would like; HealthCare PSI seems to be gaining momentum and taking on a life of its own and I'm running as fast as I can just to keep up!

The survey was interesting, wasn't it. Confirmed my suspicions about confusing media coverage. I don't know if the message is muddy on purpose, or just from a lack of planning, but it certainly has been confusing!

Have a grand week -
