Thanks for the blog post about blueberries! I was wondering if anyone has some information or experience with bilberry (European blueberry), which is supposedly far more potent than everyday blueberries. There are anecdotal stories about bilberry an…

Protein shakes work great for me. When I can afford it (financially) I drink 3 Cytomax protein shakes a day. One right when I get up, one after my workout, and one right before bed. If you don't want to drink three shakes in one day, drinking one ri…

More about me (my health interests and reasons for joining WEGO Health)
I'm a Northeastern graduate with a degree in journalism and cinema studies. When I was 16 I became a horribly misinformed "vegetarian" for two years and ate nothing but cheese pizza. Thousands of slices and several malnourished months later I quit my stint as an animal rights activist and developed a strong interest in diet, nutrition, and exercise. I believe you are what you eat and I'm fascinated with how the body works. I also strongly believe in the preventive effects healthy living and eating can have on different medical conditions. That being said I'm still trying to find the food that prevents laziness.

Cat(claws)astrophe

I had an interesting morning this morning. And to make a long story short I’m never eating Greek yogurt again. However after my milk culture catastrophe I hit the internet for some quality time reading the forum for the Narcolepsy support group called Dreaming of Sleep (narcolepsy.ning.com).

In one of the blogs I read about a woman who was misdiagnosed with narcolepsy when she actually had pituitary gland problems after a car accident. Once she found a neurologist who cleared this up for her, s… Continue

The District Sleeps Alone Tonight

I just learned that March 1st to March 8th was National Sleep Awareness week. I’m trying to wonder why I didn’t know that already and I realize that it’s because I’ve been walking around in a zombie like trance due to what I’m convinced is Delayed Sleep Phase Syndrome, or DSPS.

According to the Wikipedia article, DSPS is a chronic disorder of the timing of sleep, peak periods of alertness, and core body temperature. Although I haven’t taken my temperature since I was around six years old, I can… Continue

Blueberries are blue for a reason

We all know that fruit is good for you. Sayings like "an apple a day keeps the doctor away," "peachy-keen," and "she's my cherry pie, put a smile on your face 10 miles wide" are all examples of the positive effect fruit has. But all aphorisms aside, fruit has so many health benefits that you'd have to be nuts not to eat them (although nuts are really good for you too, but I'll save that for another blog post).

One fruit that has endless health benefits is the blueberry. Blueberries can help imp… Continue
