Vanity and migraine triggers

I'm not sure why I find this amusing. As someone who suffers from migraines this article by Newsweek makes perfect sense. The article states that certain hair do's, earrings, perfumes and hairspray can all trigger or contribute to migraine pain. The perfume and hairspray make perfect sense. Smells are definitely a trigger for some people and even though it hasn't been a trigger for me most of the time, I can think of two examples where someone's "p… Continue

A migraine blog carnival

Bobble Head over at Atomic City is hosting the May Migraine Carnival. This month the topic was migraine and exercise. There are some wonderful contributions and great information that have been included. Ellen Schnakenberg, James Cottrill, Diana Lee, Kerrie Smyres, Pat E, Teri Robert, Rena Sherwood, Megan Oltman, MaxJerz, Rosalind Joffe, and Rain Gem have all weighed in on the subject. What sound makes you want to run and hide?

I saw this question posted over at The Daily Headache by Kerrie: For you migrainuers, what sound makes your ears cringe and your head scream? I actually have a few that come to mind right away. 1. My kids screaming - Drives me nuts when I don't have a migraine, but puts me totally over the edge when I do. 2. The screech of our patio door - See explanation for number 1. They are basically the same. 3. Ha… Continue

Janeen, thank you so much for you lovely comment. I find the most difficult part of my disease is having to deal with it in front of my children. To see their faces watch Mom in pain is painful in itself. You are right, we can relate.

Thanks for the great comment, Janeen. I use both medication and life-style approaches to managing my migraines. I lean very heavily on meditation and relaxation to calm my nervous system down - but I am happy to have my meds for when I need them! I talk a lot more about it in the ecourse - would love to have you join in.

Janeen, Thank you, and you're welcome! I love my work. After coming so far with my own Migraines and headaches, it's a dream job to help others. Three of our grandchildren have Migraines too, so that makes patient education and advocacy even more important to me. :-)
